Busy 4th of July weekend ahead for ASCS Frontier
Andrew Kunas, Stagg Motor Sports PR
A busy stretch of racing is coming up for the Brodix Frontier Region of the American Sprint Car Series, which will race three times on this 4th of July holiday weekend.
The touring 360 sprint car series will race this Friday night in the Grizzly Showdown at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Montana (outside of Bozeman) in the Grizzly Showdown. A day off comes on Saturday before the series has a two-night 4th of July Showdown at the Fireball Special at Great Falls’ Electric City Speedway on Sunday and Monday, July 3rd and 4th.
Helena, Montana’s Trever Kirkland enters the three-race weekend with a 16-point lead over Coaldale, Alberta’s Kelly Miller. Kirkland leads despite flipping upside down in the most recent ASCS Frontier Region event June 11th at Big Sky Speedway. Miller is second in points despite running out of fuel at the end of that same main event. Both drivers are looking to bounce back, at two tracks where both have won at, and Kirkland was victorious at Electric City Speedway in May.
Colby Thornhill of Enumclaw, Washington was victorious in the last two outings for the ASCS Frontier Region, sweeping the weekend June 10th at Gallatin Speedway and June 11th at Big Sky Speedway.
Saturday, July 2nd the series will not be racing. However, a car show and a meet and greet will be held from 4pm to 7pm that evening at the Pit Stop Tavern just a couple of blocks from Electric City Speedway, giving fans the chance to see some sprint cars up close and personal and meet the drivers taking part.
Friday’s show at Gallatin Speedway will have IMCA modifieds and WISSOTA street stocks on the card with the sprint cars. Gates open at 5:30 with racing scheduled for 7:35. Adults get in for $15 and juniors and seniors are in for $13. Kids 12 and under are free.
Sunday and on the 4th of July Monday at Electric City Speedway, each day will have adults in for $20 while those over 55 and juniors ages 13 to 17 get in for $14. Kids 12 and under are in for just $5. IMCA modifieds and WISSOTA street stocks join both days while WISSOTA super stocks race Sunday and WISSOTA midwest modifieds race on Monday.
